Psychometrics:

So what are "psychometrics"?

What they are not:

  • They are not "tests"
  • They are not used to "label" you or put you in a box
  • They are not designed to "catch you out"

Why they are useful:

  • They can assist an individual to understand why they react the way they do, in particular situations
  • They can help an individual identify which behaviour patterns to change in particular situations
  • They can assist with the recruitment process
  • They can help people understand each other better
  • They can enable teams to communicate more effectively both within and without the team
  • They can be fun!

We never force anyone to complete a questionnaire if they don't want to!

L A Young is Licenced to Administer and Interpret the following:

MBTI® (Myers Briggs Type Indicator)

“Helps people find a rationale for many of the personality differences they encounter in their work or must deal with in their private lives”

Isabel Briggs Myers

This "Indicator" is useful for individual personal development, and also with teams - especially larger groups.

Licensed in the UK by Oxford Psychologists Press.

SDI (Strength Deployment Inventory®)

“A personality theory designed for people... to provide an effective means for understanding one's self and for understanding others so that interpersonal relationships could be mutually productive and gratifying”

Dr Elias H Porter, Ph.D

This instrument is particularly effective in exploring behaviours within situations of conflict and opposition. It therefore helps groups of people working together to learn how to cope with difficult situations.

FIRO-B

This questionnaire measures how you typically behave towards other people and the behaviours you want back from them.

This can be very insightful for managers (particularly senior managers) to find out how they "come across" to others, and to identify current and potential conflicts.

SHL's OPQ

The OPQ (Occupational Personality Questionnaire) is often used to assist with Recruitment.

“"The OPQ is designed to provide businesses with information on the aspects of an individual’s behavioural style that will impact on their performance of competencies at work."

The OPQ32 is the latest version and can be administered on-line, or in paper format. There are several types of reports available enabling comparison with graduate, managerial and leadership competencies.
